Mining & Quarrying

The Mining industry is made up of various sectors including quarrying, which is the industryís largest sector, well operations, milling, exploration, and the development of mineral properties.

Since the 1980s, mining in the UK has declined. This is especially true of coal mining, where 9 companies currently operate the UK, the largest being UK Coal.

The UK currently has 1,300 quarries; their collective output is worth £3 billion each year. The UK was previously a world leader in the tin mining industry, but production ended in 1998.

Quarrying ñ extracting stone via drilling and blasting (i.e. granite, limestone, sandstone) to be primarily used as building materials.

Well Operations - including well cuttings, well drilling, well logging.

Milling ñ including the processes of crushing, grinding, screening, washing and floatation.

Exploration and Development of Mineral Properties ñ including services performed on a contract fee or other basis in researching mineral properties.

Ultra High Pressure blasting of plant machinery and equipment

Morclean are pleased to announce their new SiteMaster range of Ultra High Pressure (UHP) Water Jetters, which are both powerful and environmentally sensitive, making them ideal for use in the mining and quarrying industry.

The combination of high pressure water with a sharp edged abrasive is incredibly effective and provides a safe, cost effective alternative to blasting.

UHP Systems can be driven by either diesel or electric engines and can be supplied as stationary or mobile units. They are usually based on high pressure plunger pumps, can deliver an operating pressure of up to 2,500 bar and a water flow rate of up to 80 l/min.

The high pressure water jets are also fantastic for pre-maintenance cleaning of dump trucks, drag-lines and underground haulage shafts. They will also unclog plant machinery of coal, rock dust, mud and oils.
