Permeable paving
You can use permeable or porous paving for small roads, pavements, car parks and yards.
Permeable paving allows rain to pass through the surface, either through gaps between individual blocks or through permeable material like gravel or porous asphalt. Pollutants are trapped below the surface where many are broken down by natural processes.
Using permeable paving also prevents water pooling on impermeable surfaces, which causes puddles and ice on car parks.
Permeable paving is a source control measure. Source control measures deal with run-off at, or close to, the surface where rainfall lands. You may need to use additional sustainable drainage system (SUDS) components to control any overflow
